An Unkind Cut: Preventing Infections in Surgery

A discussion of factors in the operating room that can contribute to the development of surgical site infections.
The possibility of a number contributing factors to any surgical site infection (SSI) is complex. Yet we cannot expect to prevent SSIs unless we can recognize potential contributors, understand by what mechanisms they facilitate or allow infection to occur and implement practical means of eliminating or blocking their impact. This webinar will focus on factors potentially contributed by the surgical team, the practice of ingrained bad habits, conditions in the OR, and the use of "sterile-but-contaminated" instruments.
