Overview

Concern over a potential H1N1 (Swine) Influenza pandemic has permeated virtually every layer of government, health ministries and medical facilities around the world. The United States has declared a public health emergency and the World Health Organization urged increased surveillance. The Type A influenza H1N1 responsible is a previously unknown combination of pig, human and avian flu viruses. As a new virus there is no immunity throughout populations.
