Suzanne M. Pear, RN, Ph.D., CIC
Dr. Suzanne Pear is Associate Director for Infection Prevention Practices within the Scientific Affairs and Clinical Education Department of Kimberly-Clark Health Care. Dr. Pear is a health care epidemiologist with extensive experience in clinical infection prevention and control practice and outbreak investigations. Her general area of expertise is healthcare-acquired infections and her special interests include surgical site infection, Clostridium difficile infection, and device-associated infections.

Prior to coming to Kimberly-Clark Health Care, Dr. Pear practiced as Infection Control Coordinator with the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System. She was also adjunct clinical faculty with the University of Arizona College of Nursing and lecturer in Infectious Diseases for the College of Public Health.

Dr. Pear is a registered nurse and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Long Island University in New York. She also holds a Masters degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing with an education concentration from the University of Arizona. Her thesis work investigated nurses’ self-perception of hand hygiene behavior. She subsequently obtained a Doctorate in Epidemiology from the College of Public Health at the same institution. Her dissertation work focused on the role of hyperglycemia in post-cardiac surgery infections. She has been certified in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) for over 15 years.

Kathleen B. Stoessel, RN, BSN, MS
Kathleen Stoessel is the Senior Manager for Clinical Education in Kimberly-Clark’s Health Care sector. Her responsibilities include the development and presentation of accredited customer education programs. Additionally, she serves as both an internal consultant and a professional speaker on clinically related topics. Ms. Stoessel is the former Manager of Clinical Education for the Safeskin Corporation. In that role, she was responsible for the creation and presentation of educational programs on medical glove-associated issues. Prior to her work with Safeskin, she served as a Navy Nurse Corps officer for 24 years. Stoessel brings a diverse clinical background to her educational programs, including coronary care, general medicine, labor and delivery, and orthopedic and surgical nursing. She was also the manager of all educational programs for healthcare and support personnel at Naval Hospital Subic Bay, Philippines; Naval Hospital, Millington, Tennessee; and Naval Medical Center, San Diego. She received her Registered Nurse Diploma from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Huntington, West Virginia; BS in Nursing from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island; and MS in Education from Memphis State University in Memphis, Tennessee.

D. Theron Van Hooser, M.Ed. RRT
Theron Van Hooser is currently the Senior Research Scientist in Kimberly-Clark/Ballard Medical Products Research and Development department. He began his career with Ballard Medical products in 1993 as a project manager and moved into international marketing in 1997. He became a research scientist for the company in 1999, shortly before its acquisition by Kimberly-Clark, where he remains responsible for the research and development of the line of respiratory care products. As a presenter and speaker, Van Hooser has been featured at many conferences for respiratory care professionals and pulmonary physicians across the nation. He has spearheaded several research projects his findings have been widely published; his acumen has helped him become appointed member-at-large for the Lambda Beta Society, the national honor society for respiratory care. He received both his associates degree in respiratory care and his bachelor’s degree in industrial psychology from Weber State University in Utah. He went on to receive his master’s degree in educational systems from the University of Utah. Theron is married to Margaret who is also a respiratory care practitoner. They have homes in California where Margaret commutes to work and Utah. They have two children and two granddaughters. Theron and Margaret like to fly fish, ice fish and ride motorcycles. Theron has rebuilt several classic motorcycles.
