What happens to the surgical glove if it touches the microbial sealant?
If a surgical glove comes into incidental contact with wet sealant, it will pick up some of the sealant which will eventually polymerize on the glove. If the glove comes into contact it is recommended that the glove be changed.
 
What skin prep can I use with InteguSeal*?
InteguSeal* is compatible with a variety of skin preparation products.
 
Will InteguSeal smear or remove marking pencils?
InteguSeal* can be applied over surgical markers and is still visible due to the lightness of the InteguSeal* tint. The marker, however, will be sealed onto the skin until the InteguSeal* wears away (3-7 days) if InteguSeal* is applied over it. Markers can be used on top of InteguSeal*.
 
Can I incise (cut through the InteguSeal*) with an electric knife? (you can't do this with Ioban®)
Yes. InteguSeal* is compatible with most common surgical materials.
 
How much do I need to apply?
One layer is sufficient for its indicated use. The applicator tip is specifically designed to give you an even coverage with a single stroke. Total area covered is 100 square inches (250 square cm) for IS100 and 200 square inches (500 square cm) for IS200
 
Can I use the applicator more than once?
InteguSeal* is a sterile single use product. It can only be used on one patient.
 
Can one InteguSeal* applicator be used on more than one incision site?
It is up to the surgical team to decide if applying to 2 sites on the same patient is consistent with acceptable hospital techniques. It is a single use product.
 
Does it work on tighter areas such as the umbilicum or toes?
InteguSeal forms a barrier regardless of skin contour.
 
For which surgical procedures would you recommend InteguSeal* Microbial Sealant to be used?
InteguSeal* Microbial Sealant is appropriate for clean and clean-contaminated surgical procedures where there is more concern about bacterial wound contamination from skin flora and specifically surgeries such as: CV, orthopedics, neurosurgery, major abdominal and implant surgery. InteguSeal* can not be used eyes or mucous membranes.
 
Can I use InteguSeal* on wrinkled skin?
InteguSeal forms a barrier regardless of skin contour. It is recommended to hold the folds apart with a sterile gloved hand until the InteguSeal* is dry.
 
Can I use InteguSeal* on childrens' skin?
Cyanoacrylates can be used on patients over 1 year of age.
 
Will the glass in the applicator come out?
No. The applicator is designed to contain the glass particles to avoid injuries.
 
How do I remove InteguSeal* sealant?
InteguSeal* Microbial Sealant is intended to be left on the skin and gradually wear away. In case of emergency, InteguSeal may be removed by rubbing the affected area with soapy water, mineral oil or acetone.
 
Does InteguSeal* contain any latex?
InteguSeal* does not contain either natural rubber latex or dry natural rubber as components in the product or its packaging.

Is there any fire hazard?
No, InteguSeal* is not flammable.
 
How does InteguSeal* work?
InteguSeal* is a film forming, cyanoacrylate based microbial sealant that is painted onto the skin after preoperative skin preparation and prior to making the incision to seal and immobilize bacteria and reduce the risk of skin flora contamination.
 
Does InteguSeal* immobilize MRSA?
InteguSeal* immobilizes all common skin flora, including MRSA, at the site of application.
 
What is the shelf life of InteguSeal* Microbial Sealant?
The shelf life is 18 months.
 
Are there any special storage conditions for InteguSeal* Microbial Sealant?
InteguSeal* Microbial Sealant should be stored at room temperature 5°-25° C.
